Che cosa significa olone?
Nel 1967 l’autore e filosofo ungherese Arthur Koestler ha introdotto il concetto
di olone nel suo romanzo The Ghost in the Machine per descrivere l’unità base dell’
organizzazione di tutti i sistemi biologici e sociali.
La parola è composta dal termine greco “holos”, che significa tutto, e dal suffisso
“one” che, come in protone, neutrone o elettrone, indica una particella o parte.

What is a holon?
In 1967, the Hungarian author and philosopher Arthur Koestler proposed the notion
of holon in his novel The Ghost in the Machine to describe a basic unit of
organisation in biological and social systems.
The word is composed from the Greek word “holos”, which translates
to whole, with the suffix “on” which, as in proton, neutron or electron
suggests a particle or part.
